LEFT BEHIND: The Reality of Children of Incarcerated Mothers
In the United States of America there are currently more than 2.7 million children who have an incarcerated parent, and approximately 10 million children who have experienced parental incarceration, at some point in their lives. With the growing epidemic of women in prison, there are alarming rates of children who are left behind without their mothers. This major issue, which has affected so many lives, has multiple adverse effects that have often been overlooked and unaddressed.
“Left Behind” gives viewers a real-life glimpse into the daily lives of children of incarcerated women. On camera, these children reveal their innermost thoughts and emotions concerning their intense struggles. Overcoming the hurdle of having an absent mother is not easy.
